Description

Worm clamps, also known as worm gear hose clamps, come in a wide range of sizes to fit different applications.

Commonly available sizes span from very small diameters for delicate tubing to large ones for industrial and heavy – duty uses. For instance, some small – sized worm clamps might have a minimum diameter range starting from around 0.25 inches (6.35 mm) and a maximum of 0.62 inches (15.75 mm), like the 90037 – 0062 and 90038 – 0062 models in the Clampco series with a micro band width of 0.312 inches.

Medium – sized worm clamps can range from approximately 0.5 inches (12.7 mm) to 3 inches (76.2 mm). An example is the HOSECRAFT USA’s hs – 8 model, which has a diameter range from 1/2 inch to 1 inch, and the hs – 40 model with a range from 2 1/16 inches to 3 inches.

Larger worm clamps are used in industrial settings and can have diameters as large as 10 inches (254 mm) or more. Some of the larger sizes in the PYI Inc.’s worm gear hose clamp series include models like 07 – hc 1 – 20 with a diameter range from 3.54 inches to 4.72 inches (90 – 120 mm), and 07 – hc 3 – 60 with a range from 12.60 inches to 14.17 inches (320 – 360 mm).

When choosing a worm clamp, it’s crucial to ensure that the size of the clamp matches the outer diameter of the hose or pipe it will secure. The clamp should be large enough to fit over the connection but small enough to provide a tight, secure grip for effective sealing and prevention of leaks.
